The first weekend in March, I'm dancing because I can and for those who can't as part of the fourth annual Wisconsin Dance Marathon, a 15-hour overnight fundraiser for the American Family Children's Hospital. AFCH, as it's called, is a beautiful, world-class pediatric care facility located right on the University of Wisconsin campus.

Since opening in 2007, the hospital has served patients from 49 states and every county in Wisconsin. The hospital is designed to make children's stays as comfortable as possible - from themed floors to a movie theater entrance to decorated ceiling tiles, no detail was forgotten.

It's truly an amazing facility, and I ask you to support me as I dance the night away for the American Family Children's Hospital. To participate in Dance Marathon, the largest on-campus fundraiser for AFCH, I need to raise at least $100, but my personal goal is $1,500. Each donation helps make a significant difference in the lives of patients and families at the hospital.

This event is bigger than you and me. In the past three years, Wisconsin Dance Marathon has raised more than $200,000 for the American Family Children?s Hospital. The funds we raised named a cast room and two nurses stations, provided hundreds of dinners to families and countless care kits to help entertain patients confined to bed. The slogan of Dance Marathon is "For Bucky's Kids," but it's for Shai, it's for Ella, it's for Michael, it's for every child who has ever needed specialized care, care provided best at a pediatric hospital.

Dance Marathon came to Wisconsin's campus around the same time I did and I'm happy to participate as Chi Omega team captain in my last semester of school. Please help me fulfill my goal and make a difference for so many deserving children. Chi Omega specifically has a special relationship with AFCH as we hold a spring philanthropy carnival for the children there and it is wonderful to see the aid this campus-wide event provides them.

Why I’m Dancing.

I’m dancing in the UW Dance Marathon in March 2012 to raise funds for American Family Children’s Hospital. And I need your help.

Wisconsin Dance Marathon is a fun way for students to get involved and make a difference for our community. While the event is pretty self-explanatory we dance all night long the results can have a positive impact on the patients and families who receive care at the Children’s Hospital.
