Three Siblings, Three Surgeries

A blood test given to the children of parents who have a genetic disorder that causes thyroid cancer may have prevented further tragedy for a South Beloit, Ill., family. Joyce Walmer, her father, uncle and sister have all been treated for thyroid cancer, and a genetic test showed her three children were at significant risk if no action was taken. Read about the family's decision

 
 

Andy North Event Raises More Than $1 Million for Research

  • June 15: Golf Fore Wolfe. Golf event to raise funds for brain cancer research.
  • June 28: Steel Curtain Open. An 18-hole best ball golf event to honor the memory of Dennis Swatek, a lymphoma patient.
  • July 19: Hope Fest. A two-day celebration to raise funds for organizations, including the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
