Charles Snowdon scheduled his virtual colonoscopy as part of a routine screening for colon polyps. During the procedure, he was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition unrelated to colon polyps that most likely would not have been identified had he not undergone the test. Read more

Recent research by UW Carbone Cancer Center member Dr. Perry Pickhardt suggests that CT colonography, commonly known as "virtual colonoscopy," is just as effective as traditional colonoscopies in detecting colon polyps. And, the availability of the procedure may actually encourage reluctant patients to undergo screening. Read more
