"I Race Because I Believe That Research Cures Cancer"
Dr. Noelle LoConte, pictured with her family (right), shares why she participates in the Race for Research.
Every day as an oncologist I witness the horrible human toll this disease takes on patients, their families and their friends. I have also lost people I love to cancer.
Research means new treatments, new screening tests and new means to prevent cancer. And every dollar raised through this event goes directly toward research right here at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
Since these people are also my co-workers, I know exactly how this money is spent and I know it is not wasted. I also know that the people behind this research are among the smartest, hardest working and most dedicated cancer researchers I know.
Lastly I run for my children, that they may know a future where cancer is less common and more treatable.
