About our Speakers
Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD is internationally known for his work as a scientist, writer, and meditation teacher engaged in bringing mindfulness into the mainstream of medicine and society. He is Professor of Medicine emeritus at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, where he was founding executive director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society, and founder and former director of its world-renowned Stress Reduction Clinic. He is the author of many books, including two best-sellers: Full Catastrophe Living: Using the Wisdom of Your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain and Illness, and Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life.
Richard Davidson, PhD is a world renowned neuroscientist, and the founder of the Center For Investigating Healthy Minds located at the Waismen Center at the University of Wisconsin Madison He conducts rigorous scientific research on healthy qualities of mind such as kindness, compassion, altruism, forgiveness, mindfulness and well being. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his research including a National Institute of Mental Health Research Scientist Award. Most recently (May 2013), the documentary film “Free The Mind” featured Dr. Davidson’s work with returning veterans and school children.
